I almost caught you showing off your dimples!

You and I are hanging out at home while Daddy, Delsin, Kai, Carolina, and Enoch are at church.   This is their first time to go to church since your birth.  I'm keeping you home for a little while longer.
And I took a few pictures of you.

I almost caught you grinning in your sleep!   We'll I did catch you grinning...

And grinning...

Kai was feeling a little jealous this morning, and asked why we didn't take any pictures of her when she was a baby.  (We haven't decorated this house because we keep expecting to move soon.). So I tossed her baby book on the couch.  She scrambled in delight to peek inside and see all the photos.

Once they left for church I looked inside and decided that except for the dimples, you just might be her long lost (8 years removed) twin sister.  You two look so much alike.

Both of these pictures are of Kai, the day she was born

Kai! You are so funny!

As I was hanging out in the living room just now I heard you yelling from your bedroom.
It's 2am, so I went in to check on you.

I asked if you were having a bad dream.  You said, "Uh huh." So I asked what you were dreaming about and you said, "You know how with the summer reading program you have to write the books you read on the card thing? I was dreaming about that and about reading a book, and ... I can't remember anymore."
You are cracking me up.  You have been reading and reading to Carolina and Enoch, and today you burst into the kitchen so excited asking me to take you to the library because you only needed to read one more book to fill up your card.  You're a bookworm, and possibly slightly obsessed with the summer reading program.  And it's adorable!

New things all around!

I'll have to post pictures later today.
It's 4AM and I haven't been to sleep yet.
I just wanted to tell you that you guys are amazing me.
Delsin & Kai you completed your first summer reading program and not one but...
two libraries.  You won some neat prizes: pass to Wilson County Fair, Nashville Sounds tickets, Jimmy Floyd Center passes, certificates of completion, gift certificated to Mc Donald's.
And I am so very proud of you.

Carolina, you showed me yesterday that you know how to push a chair up to where you want to climb, and you also chewed gum for the first time.  It's not the first time you've been given gum, but you didn't swallow it today.  In fact, you kept yours longer than I kept mine.  Way to go!

Enoch,  I've been slacking in telling you that you got your fifth tooth a week ago.  Then this past Saturday you got your 6th tooth.  YOUR top, center, left and right respectively.  You look so cute with all those teeth when you smile!  Today you played hide n seek by hiding your face on my chest.  I'd say, "Where's Enoch?"  over and over a few times, then you'd raise your head up and look me in the eye and giggle while I said, "There he is!!"

Tonight Tristen is spending the night with us.

I'm very proud of all of your.  And I love you all so very much!

Girl Scout Cookies

Kai, this is your first year to sell Girl Scout cookies.  You are doing tremendously well.  You didn't have much interest the first few weeks.  Neither did I, to be honest.  But the other day I got to thinking that we better put a little effort into it and sewed the patches on your smock and sent you to school with your order form and wearing your smock.  So many girls at school, in the troop asked you why you were wearing your smock to school and you said, "because I'm a Girl Scout and I'm selling cookies."  The next day when Daddy asked you if you wanted to wear it again you said, "Na.  Everybody knows I'm a Girl Scout now."

The first day you asked the ladies in the office and Mrs. Rachael and nobody wanted to buy any.  Either they had already bought some or were on a diet.  So when I went to pick you up that afternoon I told you that when someone told you "no" to ask them if they would buy a box to donate to the wounded soldiers.  You saw Mr. Kerr and wanted to try it out.  He told you he had already bought some cookies and didn't want anymore, then I reminded you of your follow up question and you asked him and he bought your first box of cookies.  So we decided to cruise down the 2nd grade hall.  You told me you were too scared to go into Mrs. Kemp's room so I asked you if you wanted the IPAD that you had picked out of the prize catalog and you said, "yes ma'am."  So I told you that you'd have to get in there and talk to that teacher then and that was the last pep talk I had to give you.  You had to use your follow up question on nearly every teacher at that school and it worked 90% of the time.  I was shocked to find that today you were forgetting to ask that.  But you did great anyway.  You are at 102 boxes after just 3 days of selling.  Two of those days were school days. Today was a snow day.  Your very first snow day too.  Delsin has been helping you with the sales and let me tell ya, you two make a great team.   You've argued a smidgen and I've seen you playing in the businesses we've visited a little too much, but you are both natural born sales people and I'm proud to see it.  You're a chip off the ole block.  I love it.
You've already started making plans for how to sell next year.  I think you're gonna do great.
Funny story, someone did call the police on you, and me and I guess Delsin too.  The receptionist at Dr. Jack Carey's office wouldn't let you come in without me.  Never mind that I was waiting right at the door with our two babies.  When we made our way around to the Sheriff's office a detective there told us that there had been a complaint.  I'm betting it was the woman at Dr. Carey's office that was upset about the fact that you had to pay when you order this year.  No matter, we'll go back and sell some to her anyway.

I love you Kai.

Kai,
You're going to have surgery this morning.  We're all nervous about it, well, I know I am for sure.  You've got to get put under anesthesia to get silver caps put on your teeth.  They're doing it at UMC hospital and it's probably nothing to get worried about, so I'm just saying a prayer and handing the worry over to God.

This reminds me I haven't put anything in here lately about your recent accomplishments.
You started school a few weeks ago.  You've been crying a lot when we drop you off.  Daddy says you don't cry when he drops you off, just when I'm with him.  I want you to know that warms my heart, but it's bitter sweet because I don't want you to feel sad.  Both you and Delsin keep telling me you want to be homeschooled, so if that's still the case next fall we'll go back to homeschooling.  But you're doing really great.  You haven't missed a single thing on any of your work yet.  School started August 1st.  In fact, you are doing the same homework that Delsin does, because you don't want him to get ahead of you in school work.  You're very driven and I love that about you.

In ballet you have been named the student of the month, the first student of the month award to be precise.  Here is what they wrote about you.

August Student of the Month:

Kai Urick

Kai is five years old and in kindergarten.  Her favorite subject in school is writing.  She loves the color pink.  She has been dancing for a couple of years, and her favorite style of dance is ballet.  She also loves to sing.  Kai is a hard worker and a fast learner! She comes to dance each week having practiced her new steps from the week before.  Kai is a joy to have in class!

I don't know if the photo will show up, so I'll post a couple more that they took.
Right now I have to get you ready to go to the hospital.
I quickly want to mention that we started Daisy's in recent weeks and you earned a badge for making a first aid kit.  You also helped tremendously in raising money at the hot dog stand last week, for a trip to the zoo.
Good Job Girlie!
